Liposuction Techniques: How is Hydrasolve® Different than Traditional Liposuction?

Liposuction is a popular cosmetic surgery treatment that has helped many patients get rid of stubborn body fat. The treatment has evolved over time and offer patients new ways to get comfortable care that efficiently accomplishes their cosmetic goals.

We are proud to offer our patients the benefits of Hydrasolve lipoplasty -- a modern technique for liposuction treatment. Hydrasolve® differs from standard liposuction in the following ways:

Gentleness –Traditional liposuction removes body fat by suctioning action, as the name of the procedures indicates. This process can prove to be hard on your body, but Hydrasolve® doesn’t require the same vigorous process for removing fat. We use a solution that softens fatty tissue, something called tissue liquefaction, making fat removal easier.

Post-Treatment Discomfort – Because our cosmetic fat removal treatment is assisted by the use of an injected solution, Dr. Kung’s efforts to give patients a leaner body produce less post-treatment discomfort.

Speedier Recovery Time - Hydrasolve causes less damage to surrounding tissue, so the time you spend recovering from liposuction is shortened.

Minimally-Invasive – The tube we use for Hydrasolve liposplasty is narrow and made specially to help in liquefying fat tissue; the incision needed for this treatment is very small. Getting lipoplasty doesn’t involve any large incisions that could produce visible scarring.

Precisely Targeted - The solution used to target fat only affect fat cells, making treatment particularly effective for specific problem areas of fat build-up. Traditional liposuction does not use the aid of targeted liquification for fat removal.

Hydrasolve® lipoplasty helps you sculpt a leaner body by removing persistent fat buildup that hasn’t responded to good eating habits and healthy physical activity. If you have any questions about lipoplasty, call our Chevy Chase cosmetic surgery office at 301-986-8878 to speak with Dr. Kung about Hydrasolve® treatment.

Do I Need Butt Implants or a Natural Butt Lift?

More and more people are becoming concerned with the appearance of their backsides – there are tons of fad workouts and infomercials aimed at helping you get a rounder and firmer butt.  But what do you do when no diet trend or new exercise routine helps you get a lifted backside? Cosmetic plastic surgery helps patients achieve the results they want. There are options available that you may have heard of – such as butt implants and the Brazilian butt lift.

Here’s what you need to know about each back-side-enhancing cosmetic treatment:

Brazilian Butt Lifts are Good for Sculpting and Lifting

What makes a Brazilian butt lift so natural is the use of your body’s own fat to help shape your backside. A plastic surgeon uses liposuction techniques to remove fat from other parts of your body, such as your midsection, and then purifies those cells to be injected into each side of your posterior.  While patients who are looking for both a leaner stomach and a rounder butt are perfect candidates for this treatment, there are instances where a Brazilian butt lift is not the recommended procedure.

Butt Implants are Better Choices for Patients who Don’t Have Fat Deposits

Patients who are generally lean are not ideal candidates for the Brazilian butt lift, as there are no areas of fat buildup to use as donor sites for re-injection.  In this instance, butt implants are typically the recommended course of action. Your cosmetic surgeon will help you pick the right size and shape of the implant to help you get a lifted and rounded appearance.  While Brazilian butt lifts use natural material to help firm your backside, it’s still possible to get a rounder butt without liposuction.
At Kung Plastic Surgery, we are happy to offer patients the benefits of natural butt lift treatment with the Brazilian butt lift. If you are interested in getting a rounder and firmer backside, we can help.

Even if you are not an ideal candidate for a natural butt lift, Dr. Kung will create a treatment plan that helps you achieve your desired results. Contact our office for your consultation or to speak to a member of our team about your cosmetic treatment options.

What’s Recovery Like after Getting Breast Implants?

The idea of undergoing surgery to help achieve your cosmetic goals can be intimidating, especially when you don’t know what to expect. If you’re considering breast augmentation, our office helps you get comfortable care by setting up the right expectations for post-surgical care.

During recovery from breast implant surgery, you can expect the following:

  • When you leave the hospital after treatment (an overnight stay is typically not required) you’ll be wearing supporting dressings – usually gauze wrappings – that protect the incision site and support your breasts.
  • You’ll experience swelling and discomfort after treatment, as with most surgical procedures, however these can be easily managed with over-the-counter medication. Speak to your plastic surgeon to find out which medications are recommended, as well as guidance for proper dosage.
  • Support garments, like surgical bras, will need to be worn for several weeks to help promote natural healing and ensure ideal results.
  • Be sure to keep the incision site clean and use any topical medication that is provided by your plastic surgeon.
  • A period of rest is required immediately after surgery – about two days – to help you heal. After, make sure you limit physical activity for the next several weeks, delaying more strenuous activity (such as carrying or lifting heavy objects) for about six weeks.
  • Post-treatment scarring can be minimal, depending on the site. These scars will become lighter and fainter over time. You can even use topical treatments to help fade scars, if necessary.
  • Some women experience changes in sensitivity after treatment, but this is affected by the incision site, as well as the positioning of the implant. If you are concerned about visible scarring or breast sensitivity, talk to your doctor to go over options for placement.

At Kung Plastic Surgery, we’ve helped many women achieve their ideal cosmetic results with breast augmentation surgery. If you have questions about breast implants and what to expect during and after treatment, contact our office for more information. We provide all post-surgery patients with complete care instructions to ensure their comfort during healing.

News from Around the World!

Dr. Kung just got back from his yearly trip to Ecuador last month where he performed restorative surgeries for 10 days... well, when he wasn't being honored by the Ecuadorian Navy.  He led his team of other surgeons, anesthesiologists, and ancillary staff to the base of the Andes Mountains in the province of Puyo.  There, they treated over 50 patients for various congenital deformities ranging from cleft lip and cleft palate to burn contracture deformities.  His souvenirs includes some of the pictures you see below.  Dr. Kung has plans to make another similar trip in June 2015!

On the office front, we just had a Bellafill specialist come in and show us new and improved techniques for injecting Bellafill (and other fillers too!).  While Dr. Kung has been using this product for 10 years and thinks it yields amazing results, he will admit that these new techniques give even better results!  Instead of injecting with a traditional needle, he used cannulas (a blunted needle), which allowed for a more even layer of filler to be placed underneath the skin without multiple injection sites.  The results were incredible and the patient’s walked out of the office looking awesome, especially since they were sporting huge smiles.

Adios for now!

Starting Off the New Year!

January 22, 2015

Happy New Year!! Well… a little late… but here is the first blog post of the New Year for Kung Plastic Surgery, P.A.!  With monthly updates, we hope to keep our loyal clients and potential new clients informed of what new and exciting things are happening in the office.
Just before the New Year, Dr. Kung, and other ASPS members, headed off to Hong Kong to attend the Fourth Congress of the World Association for Plastic Surgeons of Chinese Descent. Not only is the title a mouthful, but Dr. Kung had a lot to say too as one of the guest lecturers at the event.

Something exciting for the whole office was our Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support Training and Certification at the Bethesda Chevy Chase Rescue Squad.  Over the course of two days, all the staff - from office manager to Dr. Kung himself - participated in the ACLS training.   We feel that emergency preparedness and training are essential to even a small office such as ours.  Being prepared is always a good idea.

Finally, looking to the New Year, we are participating in a HydraSolve Liposuction clinical study.  Dr. Kung has offered up his services as an investigator, as well as his facilities to be one of the clinical study sites. So you have no idea what HydraSolve is? Don’t worry; we have some information on our website! If that’s not enough call the office and ask some questions, we are happy to answer.  Still not enough? Come on in for a consultation!

Check back soon to see more new updates!
